FAQ: COVID-19 and the NECO Library

Resources

Our print collection is closed at this time. To request items in print, please use this form.

At this time, you can request articles, but not print books. If you feel the title you need is one we should have in our collection, please let us know at [email protected].

We will work out a plan with the instructor of record for your course to make the needed item available to you.

We are not able to offer convenience borrowing at this time. Please plan in advance to bring your own devices with you to campus. If you are experiencing issues with your device, please contact the NECO IT Department.

Our catalog, available via the search box on the Library's home page, includes ALL of our holdings, both those available online (as eBooks and eJournals) as well as our print collection. You can use the filters on the left-hand side of the search results screen to show only print items, only items available online, etc.

Print books can be returned via the book drop slot in the Library's service desk. Larger items, such as model skulls, can be returned to a cart designated for this purpose near the service desk.

The NECO Archives' physical collections are closed at this time. However, we have several collections that have been digitized, and we are happy to do a search of all the collections on your behalf. Please contact Heather Edmonds for assistance.

COVID FAQ

Spaces

At this time, only individual, pre-reserved study is permitted at the College. Please use this reservation system to book a study space.

Only individual study is permitted at the College at this time.

Services

Many factors went into the decision to close the service desk, including maximum space capacity in the Library. With the exception of convenience items, all services and collections remain available, though some advance planning is required. All assigned reserve readings for the fall semester are either already available electronically, or have been scanned. Suggested reserve readings that are only available in print will be scanned upon request.

Absolutely. There are many ways you can reach us: via email at [email protected], using the chat widget at the bottom right of this page during Virtual Reference Desk hours, by phone at 617-687-5589 during Virtual Reference Desk hours (please leave a message, and we will call you back), or make an appointment with a librarian to meet over Zoom.

The printer/copier station has been moved to the Community Commons. If you need to use it, please book a time in advance using our space booking system. You can reserve a time for as little as 15 minutes or as long as an hour, and you can reserve it as many times as you need to in the course of a day. We ask that you please use the available wipes to clean the station after use.
