Our mission at the New England College of Optometry Library is to excel in meeting the varied yet interrelated information needs of the didactic faculty, researchers, clinicians, staff, and students who make up the NECO community.
The NECO Library constantly strives to meet the following goals that underlie our mission:
Provide the College community with access to the highest quality information resources in optometry, vision science, and related subjects.
Assist users in procuring the highest quality information that meets their respective needs.
Engage with the community to ensure that all members are appropriately information literate and aware of our services and content.
Actively conserve and curate materials relating to NECO's rich history, and ensure student study space meets current needs.
Respond adeptly to the information needs of the NECO community -- which are ever-changing due to continual progress in vision research, advances in technology, innovations in clinical care delivery, and trends in didactic and learning methods.
Ensure the library space is an open, welcoming, judgment-free environment that is not only a great place for students to study, but that also serves as a “third place” for all members of the NECO community.
